Aloha!
Like many, Netflix is my downfall; a dark swirling hole of endless television episodes and sad British movies. But never fear, Netflix will always be there to ask, "play next episode?"
So, my current Netflix trek is the American period drama (whoa, don't say that often, do we) Mad Men. Yes yes, I know. I am extremely late to this party. But I like to binge watch my TV shows, okay.
I only started watching Mad Men last week, so I'm still only on the first season, but I'll give you my thoughts on it anyways.
I must say, I absolutely love this time period. I will admit, it is my dream to be a housewife, so naturally I will love this show. Big debutante gowns, men in tailored suits, love affairs, drinks in the city's most extravagant bars; it's just so me. But I am pretty excited to get to the '70s.

Firstly, what do I think of American period dramas? America isn't known for their period pieces... Britain defiantly has that one under wraps. But I think Mad Men is... okay. The costumes are beautiful and the sets are great. But I'm not feeling all warm and fuzzy over the characters yet. And you know I am 100% all for character stories.
I do love Jon Hamm though. He's sexy, composed, professional; he's a true '60s man. He's the perfect man on the outside. It's the demons within that makes Don Draper so interesting. I can't wait for that big meltdown that's bound to happen to someone so in control... I'm only on episode 10, and I'm sure that's saved for the season's end.
I'm not to sure about the other characters yet though. Peggy is strange. I can't quite figure her out, and that makes me uncomfortable. Pete is annoying. He needs to just go away. Betty is petty, but a true housewife. Polly the Golden Retriever is probably my favorite character at this point.
I'm still in the early stages, but I know I will love it! The character's are already starting to develop, and handsome men are always a plus too.
