Hello Everyone!
So, I recently took another trip up to New York City, but this time I went to participate in AMP Nationals Choir Concert at Carnegie Hall. The honors choir I am a part of, along with sixteen other choirs, were selected from across the country to sing as a mass choir for Choirs of America. This is an absolutely amazing opportunity to sing in one of the greatest halls in the world! Needless to say, I was very excited!
Once we arrived, we went straight to Queen's College in New Jersey to being a full day of workshops and clinics. First, we practiced the premier piece we would sing at the concert, Rockin' Jerusalem. We had the great opportunity of working with the composer of the piece, Dr. Rollo Dilworth, one-on-one to perfect the song.
Next, we performed our choir's show for Sandra Babb, Jamen John, and Andre Thomas, all of whom are on the Choir of America board. They gave us feedback on how our choir could improve, and make our sound at Carnegie Hall perfect.
Our choir is made up of 150 (yes, 150 is a lot) students! I'm sure you can imagine the struggle of making sure no one got lost along the way!
Concord is a smaller, select group of singers from the honors choir.
After our workshops were over, we had a little time to explore the city and do some shopping before dinner at Buca di Beppo, a family style Italian restaurant (which was incredible, by the way)! Since I was just in the city a few weeks ago, I didn't do any shopping (my bank account is very thankful for that), and just chilled out and enjoyed the atmosphere of city life.
Outfit of the day! I was going for a bit of boho look! I'm a wearing a flowy top from American Eagel, a maxi shirt from Billabong, leather jacket from Equipment, and sandals from Target.
Okay, I think everyone needs one of these mailboxes.
We stayed at the Hyatt Place in New Jersey, just outside of New York. Grateful to have finally arrive at the hotel, I fell straight asleep to be well-rested for the big day, Carnegie Hall!
